Phil Irish

Dr. Philip Irish III is a retired Professor of Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, National Defense University. His professorial duties included designing and teaching courses entitled: “Continuity of Operations”; ”Transforming to E-Government”; “Best Practices in Organizational Change Management”; “Human Capital Strategies”; “The Changing World of the Chief Information Officer”; and “Overload: The Paradox of Information” to senior governmental and international executives. Before joining the College Dr. Irish was employed in private industry with the ARINC Corporation where he was a Senior Engineering Psychologist leading the integration of GPS technology in the cockpits of Air Force C-5 aircraft. Prior to this assignment Dr. Irish held an academic appointment at the Defense Acquisition University where he taught congressionally-mandated program management curricula to mid through senior-level DoD officials. His broad career also included assignments as: Director of Research, Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, Cocoa Beach, FL, Program Manager for the Ergonomic Information Center, Armstrong Research Laboratory, Dayton, OH and Professor of Leadership at The United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO. Dr. Irish has authored numerous articles, book chapters and technical reports dealing with diverse subjects ranging from the habitability of space vehicle designs on long-term missions to the racial and gender organizational climate of DoD organizations. He has received nine separate awards for his work in management education and research.
